Another fascinating lamp

My good friend Mélisande pointed out this fantastic, funky lamp- guessing quite correctly that I would want to add it to my collection of strange lighting designs. Spoiler, though- as near as I can tell, it’s made entirely of wire. As a huge Slinky fan this works for me, but your mileage may vary… You can see more photos and info here: http://www.neweba.com/index-Dateien/Page540.htm

Octuple Helix Compass Rose Jar

Octuple Helix Compass Rose Jar Originally uploaded by oschene. Oschene does it again. He’s an endless source of interesting geometric folding ideas, it seems! He posted a CP at the link above, I highly suggest downloading it and trying it out. His work is easy to learn and remember, and makes for great on-the-road folding!

3.12.12 reverse

3.12.12 reverse Originally uploaded by freeflyfrog77. A very slick dodecagon tessellation by freeflyfrog77 on Flickr. This must have taken a LOT of time to fold! There’s a lot of pleats in there. I like the way the irregular dodecagons tessellate nicely with simple triangles. Check out his photostream for more photos of the front and back of this piece!

8-sided Compass Rose jar by Oschene

8-sided Compass Rose jar by Oschene Originally uploaded by Ori-gomi. This is my first attempt at folding Phil’s (aka Oschene) 8 sided Compass Rose Jar (with Iris closure). what a title! His wonderful sequenced CP is here: origami.oschene.com I had some trouble with it, because I printed it out on my laserjet – no color indicators as to fold orientation. However it’s pretty easy to figure out. I really like the way it collapses into itself by doing a funky twist- it was non-intuitive at first, but now it seems so easy! definitely good to have crisp paper on this one. mushy small paper doesn’t work too well. Thanks again for sharing this with us! I appreciate it.
